for the past six days i was playing in the windy city. it was a lot of fun but the sales tax there was not fun at all. it is at 10%. damn son T_T let's recap my trip in a nutshell!
night one:
got to the airport after 11 hours of flying and layovers. waited forever for leon them to get me. the train we were on was GHETTO. it stank cuz homeless people were on it to sleep and etc. after finally getting to leon's area, we had to walk about five blocks in the freezing cold to his apartment. ate leftover chicken and passed out.
day one:
slept in. olivia slept between two chairs and i slept on the couch. that morning we didn't leave the living room until 11 am and we woke up around 8:30. so lazy lol. we ate lunch at potbelly's and it was yummy. afterwards we went to a conservatory. it was all about plants and that was pretty cool. so many types of plants and it was all free! i hated how every other room was cold or humid. yuck! hit up chinatown afterwards. their chinatown was small but i loved how they had so many asian things! i wish our chinatown was that cool. idk, it's just all your typical asian things could be found everywhere. went back to the apartment and ate deep dish pizza for the first time :)
day two:
we went to the zoo! it was free too!! i loved this zoo. it was huge for a zoo in a park. so many animals for all over! after that, we went to the barn. went there and it was stinky! the only cool thing there was there was a chick hatchery kinda. saw a chick that was only a few minutes old. cutie :P checked into our hotel that night as well. ate my chipotle and it was delicious. i've never been happier eating food...EVER. did some shopping at the biggest forever 21 and trader joe's.
day three:
shopped, shopped, shopped!!! omg! after a LONG day of shopping, we went to the mary poppin's broadway musical. it was awesome! kinda kiddie but still fun. i was so tired from earlier that i was falling asleep during the first ten minutes @_@. after the show, we were all hungry. unfortunately, so many places are closed early so we resorted to the grand lux cafe. sounds fancy huh? it's actually a cheesecake factory part two. haha, pretty cool.
day four:
kevin and i woke up early to eat breakfast at yolk. they were some tricky people! every table has coffee mugs and a lady came over asking if we wanted some coffee like it was water. i said ok and kevin got a cup later. when it was time to pay our bill, they charged us $5 for the two cups. sneaky mofos! shopped some more later. at the water tower place, there was a macy with EIGHT stories. on the side of the macy's, in the same building, are about seven stories of mall stores. it was a crazy ass mall but olivia and i loved it! we went to millenium park with the bean. it was cool to see. after an hour at the park, we went to the chicago art institute. that museum was freakin huge! it was so cool to see so many original art pieces by van gogh and monet. other pieces made famous by TV or whatevers, i did not expect them to be in chicago but they were. after the museum, leon met up with us for dinner. had my first taste of kobe beef in form of a burger. it was soooo good!
day five:
unfortunately, our last real day. headed to check out leon's school. their student center was AMAZING. definitely made the trip to IIT lol. ate dim sum, went back to chinatown for fortune cookies and whatever random things. afterwards, olivia and i went to old town. it was so historic and quiant. she bought a bunch of spices and i got a cupcake from the area. i bought some freeze dried corn but i left it on my plane back to hawaii -_-. i ate my last chipotle tacos...it was a sad moment. kevin should know. went to grand lux with everyone and leon for dinner. ate SO much food. goodness, i spent over $50 on food on friday.
day six:
i almost missed my flight haha. leon came a little later to take me to the trains but i wasn't worried since he said it would only take me about 45 minutes. chyeah....the blue line train took forever and i was freaking out. my flight was at 12:11 pm and i didn't get to the airport until 11:38 am. i had to run from the train with my bags to check in and to my gate. i sat down on the plane huffing and puffing. good times.
chicago was fun. definitely worth visiting but it's true that it does get a little boring after awhile. i wish we went during the summer time so more things would be around like the boat cruise. i had a great time and i would definitely go back again :D now back to school, noooo!
